Team for Brentford away.
My apologies for starting this a bit early but now Exile has gone wanted to get in before ⚒️ started his attention seeking post.

There are several players that need a rest and we have several players sitting on the sidelines doing bugger all.
Moyes has to rest some players as Lyon away is the bigger game. Lose that and we're out. Lose against Brentford and we're not out of a European place.
Think Rice has not had the same amount of energy since his illness. He can replace Soucek for the last 30.
Yarmolenko and Noble can come on.I'd rather see some youngsters with more energy but Moyes won't use them..

Diop Zouma Cresswell
Coufal Lanzini Soucek Fornals

And I knew you'd make out that was just a one off, when it's really just the most egregious example. You haven't addressed the point that it's a completely different situation that we're talking about here. No-one's suggesting we throw the game or play the kids, just to rest players for a more important game coming up.

Re: Team for Brentford away.
I knew someone would throw up the Forest game. I don't know if you were reading WHO at the time, or you don't remember it, but the whinging about "throwing games" was far more common than just the Forest game. It happened all the time.

"People here used to get hysterical about BFS "throwing" games by playing a slightly weakened side..."

Absolute fucking rubbish. Here's the team BFS put out in our 5-0 loss to Notts Forest:

Adrian, Driver, Potts, Diarra, Moncur, Whitehead, Morrison, Lletget, Downing (c), Jarvis, Maiga
Subs: Spiegel, Lee, Turgott, Fanimo, Maguire, Gordon, Burke

Bit more than "slightly weakened" I think, and one of the things that pissed us off would be that he'd be throwing the youngsters all together under the bus.

In any case BFS had a habit of throwing cup games because his only ambition was safety from relegation. How you can compare that to fielding a genuinely "slightly weakened" side of first teamers, not kids, vs Brentford in order to increase our chances of a possible european cup semi vs Barcelona and even a CL place is beyond me.

As for 4 days being plenty of recovery time, that might be the case if Moyes did more squad rotation generally and also if we weren't facing possible extra time on Thursday, but...

Tom- Point taken, but it seems the longer on the training ground the better they are getting.

Re: Team for Brentford away.
I agree Moyes may make a few tweaks to the starting line up. My point was more that we should go with the strongest team possible and not be resting players. What we've seem of Moyes would suggest that is what he will do. I wouldn't be surprised if Moyes starts Lanzini, especially as Lanzini was his preference to start before the car crash. If Lanzini starts I think it'll be in place of Benrahma. If things are going well for us, I expect to see a few subs, early in the 2nd half as a way to rest some players.

Re: Team for Brentford away.
A great opportunity with United, Wolves and Arsenal all losing need our strongest team. Obviously the management were confident that our players can cope with two games a week or they would have brought reinforcements in back in January.

Darby - Yea agree, but it's always been fickle on here. A couple of changes like Diop for Dawson is fine imo, but a lot changes shouldn't happen, and as we have seen this season from Moyes it won't happen either.

Agree ref Lanzini, he seems to get better the less he plays. A very average player for me, has had an extremely mediocre career and will be very easy to replace when he finally fucks off next summer.

People here used to get hysterical about BFS "throwing" games by playing a slightly weakened side, but now everyone's giving up on the league and playing reserve sides.

I haven't given up on it. We've had a bit of a slump but it's not guaranteed that will continue. However, it will continue if you keep playing weakened sides in the league and succumb to defeatism.

Four days is plenty of time to recover for Lyon.

I'm still not really convinced by Lanzini. Few goals or assists, rarely beats his man, few killer passes. People like him because he's safe and tidy and rarely makes mistakes, but he's safe and tidy and rarely makes mistakes at least partly because he never tries anything besides safe passes.

daveyg - I agree with most of that but you just know that Moyes wouldn't. Lanzini could get a game but there's no way the other two will. In fact, if they do, I'll walk away and never start another one of these threads.

Oh, hang on a minute...

To a certain extent agreed. But Salah is substituted quite often or comes on.
Moyes made 1 substitution the other night that will have an effect.
Coufal should come in, he needs game time and Diop needs a game too.
Lanzini hopefully will come in and Vlasic needs a game too.
Brentford play 3 at the back, have a lot of pace upfront so let's give Dawson a break.
Fornals at wing back as Exile doesn't want me having a cardiac with Masuaku anywhere near the squad
Vlasic Benrhama and Bowen can Interchange.

If Salah can play twice a week so can our boys. I don’t see them tired, their enjoying it and will want to play and beat Brentford.

Benrahmas ideas of dribbling past players doesnt seem to transfer to his feet most of the time. Its frustrating to see him lose possession so much.

Re: Team for Brentford away.
I’m in agreement with Surfing L, due to recent results, today MU losing and Arsenal struggling as I write, 4th place is still up for grabs. I had given up with this and thought all eyes ought to be on Europa, but being swayed by current events. For now, every game should be the best 11 until either one of the competitions fall by the wayside. This may not be with Benny, though.

I think this is a massive game and massive opportunity particularly now Wolves and Manure have lost. Full strength side. Try and secure best chance of top 6.

13 - don't mention Masuaku in the same sentence as "Davey's team." Davey will need his smelling salts.

Davey's team to start with Yarmolenko', Kral and Masuaku replacing Bowen, Soucek and Fornals at 60 - 70 mins.

Benrhama? This cunt should’t be anywhere near a West Ham shirt.

I'd start with 10 rather than this cunt
